INNOVATION Meet the future of custom painting. The AxionTM Technology opens up an exciting range of new colour application possibilities. For the first time, custom painting is available on location and on demand. |
TECHNOLOGY This breakthrough technology revolutionizes colour managment of painting projects. With this computer-driven technology a digital palette is available to manage the blending of coloured paints and its different applications, on location and on demand. Plus, it accurately measures exact paint usage for better cost control. |
APPLICATIONS The AxionTM Technology is currently being developed to connect with decorative painting applications and web-based industry networks & marketplaces. |
The AxionTM Technology and Applications are the product of five years R&D. They integrate the fields of paint and coatings application equipment and fluid handling, with patented breakthrough technology featuring ambient intelligence, control software, interactive applications, and network connectivity for industry marketplaces.
The hardware is used for blending two to five colour coatings. Flow control of paint and coatings to the blender apparatus is achieved by means of a computer with touch-screen monitor, microprocessor and pump motor controllers. Paint and coatings are pumped directly from their original containers and paint levels are continuously monitored. This blender apparatus is designed for attachement to various coating applicators
The embedded software module enables the matching of colours and the creation of colour palettes with accuracy and precision. It also provides for gradient creation from any two palette colours. The network module allows for interconnectivity, facilitating data transfer (designs and project files), AxionTM unit scheduling, streaming media tutorials delivery, tech support and unit location monitoring.
The AxionTM Technology has many potential applications. The initial application of The AxionTM Technology is being developed for the decorative painting industry.
We make tools that allow customers to paint more & more often thus driving material usage and paint purchases. This is similar to the "Printer/toner" or "Razor/razorblades" business models.
According to "Global Paint and Coatings Industry Market Analysis Report (2007 - 2012)", published by Orr & Boss in November 2008 and sponsored by The International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC), the industry size is estimated at USD 95 billion (2008). Approximatelly 45% of all paints and coatings sales are for architectural and decorative uses.
According to "World Architectural Paints to 2012 - Demand and Sales Forecasts, Market Share, Market Size, Market Leaders" published by The Freedonia Group in February 2008, "World demand for architectural paint is forecast to rise 3.6 percent per year through 2013 to 22.8 million metric tons, valued at $51 billion."
Commercial market: Decorative painters, painters and painting contractors (approximately 500,000 in the USA) as well as specifiers (interior and architectural designers) strive to provide outstanding services to their clients. Having access to better tools gives them a competitive advantage. Combined with greater economy, efficiency and differentiation, the AxionTM will expand commercial paint consumption and contractor revenues.
Consumer market: In home improvement, DIY is 50% of the market and the Faux-Finishing sector is growing rapidly. PWC (Paint & Wallcoverings Contractor) Reader Survey Results state, "In 1998, 26.6% of respondents' businesses were doing faux work. That jumped to 32% in 2001, and to 36% for 2004." Room themes and "feature walls" (walls as art) are high-end services that will soon be made available for mass marketing. The desire for consumers to be unique is overwhelming.
Personalization of one's home environment still involves the cumbersome and time-consuming selection, purchase and application of painting and decor. Decorative painting (also known as custom surface finishing) is a manual, time-consuming and expensive process, enjoyable to few. The AxionTM Technology changes this!
Other potential markets such as, Automotive & Transport and Industrial & Manufacturing, will be explored when the opportunity presents itself.
At present our focus is on architectural and decorative painting markets.
Our DecoraxionTM and Decoraxion.netTM products and services based on The AxionTM Technology will soon be available.
Empower the creativity of individuals and organizations.
We are taking custom painting into the 21st century by developing and integrating hi-tech hardware tools, software applications, design content and web-based industry marketplaces.
The concept for a device for blending paints and coatings was conceived and in 2004, the first prototype was built and tested. With the concept validated, a Canadian patent was applied for. In 2005, Panaxion was created to develop and commercialize the blender device. A letters Patent was granted in 2009. Three more prototypes were built during the period 2005/2009 incorporating suggestions offered by painters and decorative painters. Their opinions were solicited because our initial users are intended to be those associated with the Decorative Painting Industry.
Many engineering disciplines were and are involved in the design and testing of the blender engine. They include mechanical, electronic, software, embedded systems, networks and chemical engineers. The fifth prototype is currently being developed and will soon be ready for Beta Stage testing.
Chris Frosztega President & CEO
Chris is a founding shareholder and has spent the last four years building the Panaxion team and developing the commercialization strategy for his invention. Starting in high school, Chris worked during summers as a painter. Following his first year in university, he started a student painting enterprise. Upon completing his Business degree at Carleton University, Ottawa, Chris diversified into renovations while continually looking for better solutions to traditional painting processes. Chris imagines a future where home renovating/decorating projects will be planned and even realized like a video game.
Frank McDonnell VP Systems Development & Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Frank, the second founding shareholder, holds a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal. Frank worked as a Resident Engineer, Construction Engineer, Construction Manager and Project Manager on hydro-electric power generation, transmission and distribution projects all over the world costing from 5 million to 500 million dollars. Frank is the co-inventor with Chris on several patents and patent applications.
